Introduction |
|
|
|
Pipelining was the main
research topic of my PhD, "The Effective Management
of Distributed Computation". These are not the
pipelines that your water comes in, but it's a paradigm
for computing over a loosely coupled network (ie. the
Internet). My PhD also covers
scheduling, distribution, security, transparency &
scaling.
I no longer work at Loughborough
University, but my current details can be obtained from my personal
home page.

This paper represents some
of my work from 1995/96, but with an up-to-date slant so
that it looks like a current paper. It tackles the
scheduling problems associated with highly loaded
distributed systems which are using near optimal
scheduling algorithms.

My 1st year report was
finished in April 1996. This report is outdated now and has a few
inaccuracies, but it does indicate some of my research content.

ITA Module
 |

This is the final
practical for the ITA module 1996/97, and was designed to
be completed in the PC lab in the Computer
Studies department. I taught the ITA (Information
Technology Applications) module for two years beginning 1995/96. I
covered word processing and networking (WWW
& email). |

of pages. I do it the good old way.
Here are the

every morning from the access logs on this server. This
service was suspended October 1998, but it's still quite
