This hotel is in the town where we will be married, and
where the reception will be located too.
We give this hotel FOUR STARS - so this is where you should stay, if you
can. It's easy to walk to the church, and back again to the reception.
Approximate prices:
Single and double Room:
1200 -
1800 SKK
These prices will change due to Slovakia joining the EU on the 1st May 2004.
There are 42 beds in this Penzión, comprised of the
following: -
17 double-bed rooms
2 double-bed apartments (don't try to book these - they've been booked)
1 four-bed apartment (this apartment is booked already - sorry)
to go to Hepex (a Slovak travel agent) who can book your room for you or visit www.hoteldavid.sk/index_en.html
to see the hotel's own home page, and you can reserve a room using email or
telephone (recommended). Tell them that you are attending our wedding, and
that should do the trick.
- Electricity
The electrical current in Slovakia is 220 volts, 50
cycles alternating current (AC); wall outlets take continental-type plugs,
with two round prongs. If your appliances
are dual-voltage, you'll need only an adapter plug. Don't use 110-volt
outlets, marked "For Shavers Only," for high-wattage appliances
such as blow-dryers.

Mobile Telephones
You should check before you travel with your mobile
telephone operator that you've got "International Roaming" set up,
and that you know how to get to your voice mail from abroad (because you'll
typically have to dial something other than 121 or 123 to pick up voice mail
from a foreign country). You must also have set up a PIN on your
voice mail, otherwise you won't be able to listen to it. Your operator
will guide you through this, and it must be done before you travel.
Do watch out for the cost of both making and receiving
calls, because it is incredibly expensive! Again, ask your network
operator what the cost will be before you travel (Vodafone charges approximately
£1 per minute). Sending SMS will typically cost twice as much for a
UK mobile phone in Slovakia (so that's about 20 pence).
For the sad people who think they'll be working over
the weekend, GPRS will probably not work so do ensure you've got a dial-up
GSM based service that you can use for data. It will be stupidly
expensive for 9.6K, but if you've got to go on the internet rather than
drink - it's your funeral. There is an internet cafe in Bosany, with
ISDN speed access. Cheap as chips, and you get what you pay for.
